Motorola Solutions Foundation

As the charitable and philanthropic arm of Motorola Solutions, the Motorola Solutions Foundation partners with organizations around the world to create safer cities and equitable, thriving communities. We focus on giving back through strategic grants, employee volunteerism and other community investment initiatives. Our strategic grants program supports organizations that offer first responder programming and technology and engineering education, and align to our values of accountability, innovation, impact, diversity and inclusion. The Foundation is one of the many ways in which the company lives out its purpose of helping people be their best in the moments that matter.

The Foundation’s annual grants program for strategic grants has three primary areas of focus: technology and engineering education, first responder programming and programs that blend the two. Within each area of focus, we prioritize support for underrepresented and/or underserved populations, as we believe that a thriving community is one in which each citizen has a chance to reach their maximum potential.

Innovation has been at the heart of Motorola Solutions’ more than 90 year history and is not just one of the Foundation’s values - it’s a driver for our investments. We aim to inspire and cultivate the next generation of engineers and inventors by supporting organizations that foster innovation in education and public safety, with a focus on populations traditionally underrepresented such as women and people of color. We are actively working to promote diversity within the technology and engineering fields in order to create equitable access, drive creativity and new ways of thinking. Ultimately, the Foundation is committed to creating opportunities for the next generation of innovators in technology and engineering.

The Foundation is proud of its 5-year partnership with MATE. In that time, we have awarded over $140,000 in grants to support MATE’s ROV (underwater robot) challenges. These challenges allow students to learn and creatively apply technology and engineering skills to solve real-world problems, and they help build important skills including critical thinking, collaboration, entrepreneurship and innovation. The partnership has also provided an opportunity for more than ten Motorola Solutions employees to commit over 800 volunteer hours with MATE and its participants.

The Motorola Solutions Foundation is grateful to MATE for all that it does to provide technology education to students across the country. Their commitment to students is unparalleled, and we look forward to continuing our partnership.
